A support inbox, or a sales floor that knows who walked in
Crisp is a support platform priced per workspace: shared inbox, chat widget, Hugo AI, knowledge base — with video calls and MagicBrowse co-browsing from the Essentials plan. Captiwate identifies the visiting company and person first, then lets a rep chat, call or video-call them while they are still on the page, with AI chat after hours and unlimited seats.
Where Captiwate is different
Know who is on the site before they type
Crisp calls itself “the AI customer support platform for every business”: a visitor opens the widget, and the conversation starts from there. Captiwate starts earlier — it identifies the visiting company and, where lawful, the person while they are still anonymous on your pricing page, so a rep can open the conversation instead of waiting for one.
A sales rep first, AI after hours
Crisp’s AI agent, Hugo, is built to resolve support tickets and draws from a monthly credit pool ($5 to $75 depending on plan). Captiwate puts a human rep in front of high-intent visitors — chat, call, video call or co-browse in one click — and its AI chat covers the hours nobody is online, included and unmetered.
One price, no seat caps
Crisp is priced per workspace with a seat allowance per tier (2, 4, 10 or 20+) and $10 per extra agent per month; MagicBrowse and audio/video calls start on Essentials. Captiwate is priced on monthly visitors — from $15,000/year — with unlimited seats, conversations and identified companies on every plan and two-way HubSpot and Salesforce sync included.

Which one fits your team?
Crisp is a good, cheap support tool and says so. Pick by who will be answering — a support agent handling tickets, or a sales rep who wants to know which account just landed.
“One thing that should get any business excited about Captiwate is when there is a call coming from a visitor. A user is calling the website — that is pretty cool, and that is the dopamine hit.”
Frequently asked questions
Can I migrate from Crisp to Captiwate?
Yes. Captiwate takes care of teams coming from Crisp financially and during the move. Setup is a single JavaScript snippet, the same way you added the Crisp chatbox; from there you connect HubSpot or Salesforce, point alerts at Slack or Teams and your reps are live with chat, video and co-browsing — plus company and person identification that Crisp does not offer. Bring your current Crisp setup to a 30-minute walkthrough and leave with a plan.
How does Crisp pricing compare to Captiwate’s?
Crisp is billed per workspace per month: Free with 2 seats, Mini at $45 with 4 seats, Essentials at $95 with 10 seats, Plus at $295 with 20+ seats and $10 per additional agent, with Enterprise on quote (as listed on crisp.chat/en/pricing, 2026-09-04; yearly payment can be switched on inside the app). Each paid plan includes a monthly pool of AI credits — $5, $25 or $75. Captiwate is annual and priced on monthly visitors: Grow is $15,000/year up to 20,000 visitors, Scale is $30,000/year up to 100,000, Unlimited is custom — with unlimited seats, conversations, identified companies and AI chat included. For a small support team Crisp is far cheaper; for a sales team that wants to know who is on the site, the comparison is with what you would pay for a separate identification tool.
Does Crisp have video calls and co-browsing like Captiwate?
Yes, on the right plan. Crisp’s help center says audio and video calls “are available from Crisp Essentials” and that MagicBrowse co-browsing “is available on the Crisp Essentials and Plus plans”. Calls run in the browser with screen sharing; MagicBrowse is passive by design — it mirrors the visitor’s page, mouse and scrolling, and asks the visitor’s permission first. Captiwate includes live video calls and co-browsing on every plan, and the rep already knows which company the visitor is from before starting the call.
Does Crisp identify which companies visit my website?
Not from anonymous traffic, as far as Crisp’s pages show. Crisp can set a contact’s company when your own code passes it for logged-in users, and it enriches a profile from public sources once the visitor has shared an email. Captiwate identifies the visiting company from the first pageview and adds person-level identification where lawful, so reps see the account before anyone types a message.
Is Crisp GDPR compliant? Where is the data hosted?
Crisp is a French company and states it is GDPR-compliant, with messaging data hosted in the Netherlands and plugin data in Germany; relay servers outside the EU keep only connection logs. Crisp also says it “hasn’t been over any SOC2 audit” and is “committed to aligning with ISO 27001 standards” rather than certified. Captiwate is GDPR and CCPA compliant, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified, and offers customizable data-privacy options for your customers.
Is there a free trial?
No, a free trial is not available today. We offer a fully customized demo built around your website, so you can see how Captiwate would work on your live site before committing.
Do I need a developer to set up Captiwate?
No. Adding Captiwate is a single JavaScript snippet, similar to Google Analytics. Our team handles the full setup and most customers are live within minutes — no engineering resources required.
