Captiwate vs LiveChat

Chat that sells — not a support queue priced per seat

LiveChat is customer-service chat from Text, Inc., billed per agent per month with ticketing, chatbots and AI sold as separate products. Captiwate is sales-first: it identifies the company and person on your site, then a rep chats, calls or video-calls them live — with AI chat after hours and unlimited seats at one price.

Where Captiwate is different

Your rep knows who they’re talking to

LiveChat’s Customer Details panel shows what the visitor typed or what you pass in: name, email, location, pages visited. Captiwate identifies the visiting company and the person before the first message, so a rep opens the chat knowing it is a target account on the pricing page — not an anonymous visitor #4,812.

Video and co-browsing are built in

On LiveChat, voice, video and screen sharing come from the SnapCall app in the marketplace, and the agent sends the invitation. Captiwate’s live video calls and co-browsing run inside the visitor’s tab on every plan — no extra app, no download, and the rep can walk the visitor through your product on their screen.

Seats don’t move the price

LiveChat bills $19–$79 per agent per month and caps how many visitors you can track (100, 400 or 1,000). Captiwate is priced on monthly visitors — from $15,000/year — with unlimited seats, conversations and identified companies, so adding SDRs or AEs costs nothing extra.

Feature comparison: Captiwate vs LiveChat

LiveChat is a live-chat tool for support teams, with ticketing, chatbots and an AI Agent available as separate products from the same company. Captiwate starts from who the visitor is and adds the conversation on top: chat, video, co-browsing, AI and booking.

Frequently asked questions

Can I migrate from LiveChat to Captiwate?

Yes. Captiwate takes care of teams coming from LiveChat financially and during the move. Setup is a single JavaScript snippet; you swap the widget, connect HubSpot or Salesforce, point alerts at Slack or Teams and your reps are chatting again — this time with the visiting company and person identified, plus video, co-browsing and AI chat after hours. Bring your current LiveChat setup to a 30-minute walkthrough and leave with a plan.

How does LiveChat pricing compare to Captiwate’s?

They are different models. LiveChat is billed per agent: Starter at $19, Team at $49 and Business at $79 per agent per month on annual billing ($25, $59 and $89 monthly), Enterprise by quote, with tracking limits of 100, 400 and 1,000 visitors (as listed on livechat.com/pricing, 2026-09-04). The autonomous AI Agent, ChatBot and HelpDesk are separate subscriptions on top. Captiwate is annual and priced on monthly visitors: Grow is $15,000/year up to 20,000 visitors, Scale is $30,000/year up to 100,000, Unlimited is custom — with unlimited seats, conversations, identified companies and AI chat included. For a two-agent support desk LiveChat is far cheaper; for a sales team of ten with CRM sync, video and AI, the numbers converge.

Does LiveChat identify which company is visiting?

Not on its published pages. LiveChat’s Customer Details show name, email, location, IP, device, pages visited and visit history, plus any custom parameters you pass in — it does not list reverse-IP or identity resolution. Captiwate identifies the visiting company and, where lawful, the person, and shows it to the rep before the chat starts, with unlimited identified companies on every plan.

Can LiveChat do video calls like Captiwate?

Yes, through the SnapCall app in LiveChat’s marketplace: the agent sends an in-chat call invitation and the visitor joins voice, video or screen sharing without installing anything. SnapCall has its own 14-day trial and LiveChat does not publish its price. Captiwate’s video calls and co-browsing are part of the platform on every plan, and the rep can guide the visitor on the visitor’s own screen.

Does Captiwate have AI like LiveChat’s?

Both have it, but at different layers. LiveChat includes Copilot assists for agents — reply suggestions, text enhancement, tags and chat summaries — and sells the autonomous AI Agent on Text plans billed per resolution (from $19 per user/month for 10 resolutions, overage $49.50 per 50). Captiwate’s AI chat runs 24/7 on every plan, answers questions, qualifies the visitor and hands hot prospects to a live rep — included, not metered.

Is there a free trial?

No, a free trial is not available today. We offer a fully customized demo built around your website, so you can see how Captiwate would work on your live site before committing.

Do I need a developer to set up Captiwate?

No. Adding Captiwate is a single JavaScript snippet, similar to Google Analytics. Our team handles the full setup and most customers are live within minutes — no engineering resources required.
